DETROIT (WJBK) - Two vehicles collided on the street Tuesday, sending one smashing into a Detroit family's home on the city's west side.
"The grill of the car was in my face and I just knew I was about to die," said Lori Thompson.
On Monday afternoon, Thompson had just dropped off her five sons when a car crashed into her home. Police say a Durango was traveling northbound when a second vehicle, a Nissan, was heading westbound on the cross street and disregarded a stop sign.
The collision forced the Durango right into Thompson's living room.
"I thought the car was going to blow up and I just jumped out of the window," she said.
Police say the drivers of the two vehicles and one passenger were transported to a local hospital with minor injuries.
Thompson says vehicles often speed and disregard stop signs in her neighborhood. She has this message for the driver who police believe disregarded the stop sign in this accident:
"What the hell was he thinking? What if my kids were out here?" she said.
Police say the incident is under investigation and they are looking to see if alcohol played a factor.
Thompson says he house was all she had and she does not have homeowners insurance to get back on her feet. If you would like to help this family, click here.
"I'm thankful for anything but I want my house back," she said.
