Cremated remains found at closed Detroit funeral home on Dexter
DETROIT (FOX 2) - Detroit police have discovered more cremated remains at a closed funeral home.
The remains were found at the former Howell Funeral Home Wednesday as police executed a search warrant, according to a public information officer.
The Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs told FOX 2 that an investigation is being launched.
It is just the latest development in a string of remains found at Detroit funeral homes which began in April and led to a criminal investigation. Last October, 63 fetus remains were found at Perry Funeral Home on Trumbull, which closed the business.
The Cantrell Funeral Home closed in April after the state department of licensing and regulatory affairs found decomposing moldy bodies and multiple violations. Then in October 10 fetuses and an infant were discovered in the ceiling of the shuttered business.
The former Howell Funeral Home is near Fenkell and across from the Joy Prepatory Academy.
