WEDNESDAY NEWS HIT - Detroit police are searching for answers - and a woman's boyfriend - after she was found dead in her home Tuesday.
Quana Foster's 11-year-old daughter found her body in her home on Telegraph Road between Seven and Eight Mile.
"Today her job said she (was) ‘no call no show.’ I stay down the street, so I came down here to check on her," said the father of Foster's kids, Armond Bohanen. "She’s the mother of my 2 kids."
After knocking on her door with no response, Bohanen hoisted the child in through an open window – only to find Foster dead on her bedroom floor, covered up.
"Everything was torn up in there," Bohanen said. "Christmas gifts is gone, everything, TV. She had cameras on her house, they’re gone."
Man killed by police after shooting crash witness in face
After witnessing a crash Tuesday morning in Garden City, Antoine Williams walked over to help. Instead, he was met with gunfire when one of the drivers involved shot him in the face and chased him.
"I was bleeding everywhere," Williams said. "Then I started running to the gas station, and he started shooting everywhere else."
The armed man followed Williams into the Shell gas station on Ford and Venoy where he had been pumping gas when he witnessed the crash.
The suspect eventually went back outside and was in the middle of Ford Road when Garden City police confronted him. During that confrontation, he was shot and killed by an officer, according to Michigan State Police.
Driver crashes, dies while fleeing police
A police chase Tuesday ended with the suspect dead after he crashed into a box truck, Warren police said.
Police said officers stopped a red Chevrolet Cruze for a traffic violation in the area of Van Dyke and Stephens at 12:09 p.m. When an officer asked for identification, the driver said he did not have ID.
The officer asked the driver to step out of the car, but he fled. Police followed him onto northbound Lawrence south of 10 Mile in Center Line. He then drove in a field near Lawrence and 10 Mile before continuing on 10 Mile.
A few minutes after the initial stop, he ran a red light at 10 Mile and Ryan and hit a Ford F-150, police said. The suspect then hit a Penske box truck and the car went underneath the truck.
1 million Corewell patients impacted by data breach
Michigan Attorney General Dana Nessel said that HealthEC, a vendor Corewell Health uses to "identify high-risk patients, close gaps in care and recognize barriers to optimal care," experienced a data breach impacting more than one million patients.
Some information that may have been breached includes: name; address; date of birth; Social Security number; medical record number; medical information, such as diagnosis, diagnosis code, mental/physical condition, prescription information, and provider’s name; health insurance information, including beneficiary number, subscriber number, Medicaid and/or Medicare identification number; billing and claims information, including patient account number, patient identification number, and treatment cost information.
This is the second time in recent months that Corewell has reported a data breach. Last month, the health system reported that Welltok, Inc., a software company contracted to provide communications services, had a data breach that impacted one million people.

New IRS tax brackets take effect in 2024, meaning your paycheck could be bigger next year
Higher federal income tax brackets and standard deductions will take effect at the beginning of January, potentially giving Americans a chance to increase their take-home pay in 2024 and shield more of their income from the IRS.
The IRS announced the higher limits for the federal income tax bracket and standard deductions in November. The increase is intended to avoid a phenomenon known as "bracket creep," which happens when taxpayers are pushed into higher-income brackets even though their purchasing power is essentially unchanged due to steeper prices for most goods.
The IRS makes such adjustments annually, but in times of high inflation, the increases are more significant and impactful for taxpayers. Although inflation has fallen considerably over the past year, it remains higher than both the pre-pandemic average and the Federal Reserve's 2% target.
This year, the tax brackets are shifting higher by about 5.4%.
