Heavy rain expected to continue off and on overnight into Saturday
Southeast Michigan was hit hard by heavy rain Friday and expect the showers to stick around.
SOUTHFIELD, Mich. (FOX 2) - Heavy rain is causing flooding overnight in several cities. Almost 5" of rain has fallen in a line extending from Ann Arbor to Ypsilanti. For that reason, the National Weather Service has issued a Flash Flood Warning for Washtenaw and Wayne counties until 6am Saturday. A Flood Advisory is in effect for Macomb, Oakland and St. Clair counties until 5:15am.
Flash flooding is ongoing. There have already been reports of water over roads including a flooding closure at Northville Road at Six Mile Road in Northville Township. Other flood prone areas include: Livonia, Taylor, Romulus, Flat Rock, Saline, Milan, Grosse Pointe, Chelsea, Dexter, Manchester, Canton, Detroit, Dearborn, Wyandotte, Trenton and Grosse Ile.
In addition to the rain, there are reports of dense fog, with visibilities down to a half mile in some areas. Be careful if you must go out. As Low pressure gets closer, expect gusty wind to develop. You may want to bring in trash cans and secure patio furniture.
So far, storms have not been classified as severe. Their threat is the amount of rain falling repeatedly over the same spot, also called "training." This results in ponding and the potential for flooding. Do not drive your vehicle through flooded roadways.

Things to do in Metro Detroit this weekend
If you've got events planned this weekend, keep eye out for lightning and make alternate plans to bring your outdoor activities inside.
On Saturday, an area of low pressure is moving along a slow-moving frontal boundary producing waves of showers and storms.
Since Friday's game was cancelled due to rain, our Detroit Tigers are expected to take the field at Comerica Park at 1:10 pm Saturday for a double header against the Astros. There will be storms in the area with breezy, war and humid conditions. The Tigers may be able to get the early game in, but with afternoon heating producing an unstable atmosphere, the 6:10p game may be a wetter one. A better chance for storms exists after 4pm.
Expect more rain Sunday.
Rainfall totals by 5 p.m. on Sunday could exceed between 1 and 3 inches, particularly in southern counties where 3.65 inches of rain is possible in Adrian. In Detroit, we're looking at 2.55, Macomb is looking at 2.65 inches, while Pontiac will likely get a bit more than 2 inches.

Rainy days are to stay for now
The rain in Metro Detroit will be relentless for the next few days with up to 3 inches - or more - expected by Sunday night!
In addition to flooding in Washtenaw and Wayne counties, ponding and urban stream flooding could be more widespread from Saturday evening into early Sunday. Double-check to make sure your sump pumps are working properly, and that the drainage areas in your streets are clear of debris.
As for next week? Rain is in the forecast each day tapering off by Friday.
