Detroit couple accused of abusing 7-year-old boy to death, prosecutor says
DETROIT (FOX 2) - A Detroit couple is accused of killing a 7-year-old boy over the weekend.
Alisha Renee Hollamon, 23, and Avion Traylor, 21, are accused of abusing the child, who was Hollamon's son, until he died early Sunday.
Police found the child when they were called to the 3700 block of Hurlbut Street just after midnight. The boy was taken to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
Hollamon and Traylor are charged with felony murder, first-degree child abuse, and torture.
During the couple's arraignment Wednesday, prosecutors described the abuse that the child, who was named Deshawn, faced, and the injuries he had when found.
"There are absolutely no words to describe how brutalized Deshawn was," the prosecutor said. "Based on the facts and evidence that we have, Deshawn lived a nightmare."
Authorities said the boy's cause of death was blunt force trauma to the head and pelvis causing internal bleeding.
The child's pelvis was separated in half, and he had scratches, scars, and burns all over his body, along with injuries that authorities say happened after he died.
