Detroit Institute of Art annual fundraising gala

The Detroit Institute of Arts (DIA), one of the premier art museums in the United States, is home to more than 60,000 works that comprise a multicultural survey of human creativity from ancient times through the 21st century.

The DIA's esteemed collection will be the centerpiece of this year's annual fundraising gala, celebrating the collection, and raising funds for educational programs.

The gala takes place Nov 11, at 7 p.m. to midnight. Funds raised will benefit the museum's educational initiatives, including field trips for more than 70,000 students each year.

Gala co-chairs for the black-tie event are Frances Eisenberg, Nicole Eisenberg, Barbara Fisher, Brooke Fisher and Juliette Okotie-Eboh.

Artisans and performers will entertain guests throughout the museum, including hair designer Kristina Beaty, Plymouth United Church of Christ Choir, Community Chorus of Detroit, handbell ensemble Capital City Ringers along with magicians and mystics.

Forte Belanger will present exquisite culinary masterpieces and sumptuous desserts. The evening culminates by bringing everyone together in the museum's Great Hall, meant to symbolize a "town square," a concept that is an important part of the DIA's vision.
