Detroit man arraigned for shooting up reserve police officer's home twice, just hours apart

Dashaun Lewis

A Detroit man is charged with opening fire at a police officer's Warren house twice - only hours apart.

Dashaun Lewis allegedly stood outside the home of a reserve Highland Park police officer and shot at the residence five times on Jan. 5. The gunfire damaged the house and the victim's vehicle.

A few hours later in the early morning of Jan. 6, Lewis came back to the residence and allegedly shot at two victims standing outside of the house and at the house again.

Three people were at the house at the time of the second shooting but were not injured. Lewis fled, but was located by Warren police which deployed a drone, a few blocks away.

Lewis, 21, was charged with 10 felonies including attempted murder in the second shooting incident.

"These allegations are extremely serious and deeply concerning. This brazen act of violence not only caused significant property damage but also put the safety of the entire community at risk," said Macomb County Prosecutor Peter J. Lucido. "Such actions cannot be tolerated, and we will pursue justice to ensure the safety and security of all our residents."

In the first batch of four counts for the Jan. 5 shooting, he was arraigned with a set bond at $300,000.00 cash/surety.  Upon release the defendant is to wear a GPS tether, have no contact with any of the victims or witnesses, and no possession of any firearms.

In the latter group of six counts he was arraigned with a set bond at $600,000.00 cash/surety. Upon release, the defendant is to wear a GPS tether, have no contact with any of the victims or witnesses, and no possession of any firearms.
