DETROIT (WJBK) - Detroit police have caught a domestic violence suspect wanted for beating a woman and her child early Friday morning.
Jesse Ruffin, 31, was arrested at 4 p.m. Friday by police, according to Josh Landon. He was found at his father's house on the east side of Detroit.
Investigators say he beat and choked the mother of his child until she was unconscious on the west side of Detroit. As the mother says as she was losing consciousness, she noticed Ruffin punching their 3-year-old son Friday morning.
Once she woke up, she called police. Both are hospitalized but expected to be fine.
The woman's three other children were in the home at the time but they don't appear to be harmed. they were checked out as a precaution. The suspect is not the father of the three children.
As to what led to the altercation ending in violence, police said at this point they do not know.
"Mr. Ruffin has an assaultive history, a combative history," Lt. Franklin Hayes, Detroit police. "In those types of scenarios sometimes, there is no reason. And we believe he is just that violent. he took a conversation and went violent with it and that's unacceptable."
