Detroit Police Commander charged with drunk driving, carrying a weapon

A Detroit Police Commander is charged with drunk driving while in possession of a weapon.

Johnny Thompson, a 48-year-old commander of the 3rd precinct, crashed into another car, was charged wtih two misdemeanors equallying more than 250 days in jail. 

He had a blood alcohol content level of .19 - more than twice the legal limit. 

Thompson is being held on $5,000 bond.
