Was it a murder staged live on Instagram or an accident?

Detroit Police are investigating the death of an 18-year-old, shot by another 18-year-old, and all captured live on Instagram.

The incident happened just before midnight Monday night on San Juan Street in the University District, on Detroit's northwest side.

Two 18-year-olds were live on Instagram, with a gun and some money, when one man, who said he accidentally put his finger on the trigger, discharged the gun- striking the other 18-year-old in the back of the head, who was pronounced dead at the scene.

"We've seen a decline as of late with children getting shot," said Detroit police Chief James Craig. "In this instance, playing with the guns, flash money, just bizarre and ridiculous behavior. That should not happen."

"I tell my grandson about playing with guns, no, it's no joke," said neighbor Kimberly Shivers.

Police have the 18-year-old shooter in custody. They are still looking for that Instagram as part of their ongoing investigation, which likely will become a big piece of evidence in the case. Just like an Easter morning shooting in Houston - all caught on Facebook live.

In Houston a 26-year-old man was shot in the head and the woman is facing possible murder charges on Facebook live.

"Social media does a lot of good but there's a lot of bad stuff on it too," said Gregory Johnson.

"I would hope that someone did not use that platform as a means to pick that level of violence," Craig said. "I am not prepared to say. Right now preliminarily it appears to be an accident. A horrible accident."
