Detroit rescue crews suspend search for person in Rouge River

Rescue crews have called off their search for a missing person in the Rouge River on Friday night.

That search was called off just before 10 p.m. while trying to look for the missing person. FOX 2 understood it was a man who ended up in the Rouge River by Ford Street in southwest Detroit.

Before they wrapped up, FOX 2 could tell you that dive teams assembled and took to the water, stationing themselves near the fairly new Ford Street Bridge Park area. This is one of the newer additions to the area where the Detroit fire and police departments, along with the U.S. Coast Guard, all stationed themselves.

The drawbridge in this area was raised the entire time as the search was taking place.

Earlier Friday, officials got a 911 call about a person in the river, a man who somehow either fell in or jumped in and never came back up.

Crews will be back out searching on Saturday. FOX 2 did see some gathering earlier who appeared to be family.

They did not want to comment.
