Voters in Detroit have had their say but the numbers right now are still not in at the midnight hour.
Detroit is at the center of the election with Michigan a key battleground state with 16 electoral votes hanging in the balance as Republican candidate Donald Trump has a 254 to 209 lead over Democratic candidate Hillary Clinton.
FOX 2's M.L. Elrick reports they are still counting the votes in Detroit and there is plenty left to count. At last count there are 480 of Detroit's 662 precincts counted. That means about 25 percent of the vote in the city has not been counted. That number may sway the state to Clinton if she takes the majority of the votes as she is expected to get.
Early indications are that the turnout in Detroit is about 5 or 6 percent lower than in 2012 when President Obama was elected president.
As Detroit goes, Wayne County goes, as Wayne County goes the state may go as well. As Wayne County goes, the nation may go.
In Wayne County, the Associated Press had Clinton leading with 354,054 over Trump's 151,931. Overall in Michigan, Trump leads by a 0.66 margin with 47.76 percent to 47.10 as of 12:20 a.m.
