Detroit woman charged in home invasion
DETROIT (FOX 2) - A Detroit woman has been charged in connection with a home invasion on Monday.
Officials say 26-year-old Kayla Shawn allegedly forced entry into a 49-year-old Detroit woman’s Burlingame Street home on Jan. 2 of the new year.
According to authorities, Shawn allegedly vandalized the woman's home before fleeing the scene. Both women knew each other.
Shawn was arrested later the same day after an investigation by Detroit police.
She has been charged with:
- First-Degree Home Invasion and Conspiracy
- Legal Act/Illegal Manner
Shawn was arraigned on Jan. 5 and was given a $50,000 cash bond. Officials say a bond re-determination hearing is scheduled for Tuesday, Jan. 7.
A Probable Cause Conference is scheduled for Jan. 13 with a Preliminary Examination scheduled for Jan. 21.
