Detroit's 36th district court waiving late fees on traffic tickets

Detroit's 36th District Court is kicking off a program today that  waives late fees and other costs on traffic tickets.

All month long, the court will waive penalties on outstanding violations, like late fees and warrant costs, as long as you pay them in full and in person.

The court located downtown Detroit at 421 Madison. Officials hope the program will help get help get drivers back on the road and back to work.

In addition, on October 1, driver responsibility fees tacked on to tickets will be going away, eliminating another hurdle to license re-instatement.

All adjudicated cases where fines and costs have been assessed are eligible. Cash, check, credit card and money order are accepted in person. Clearance fees cannot be waived.
