Dog attacks have Farmington Hills neighborhood on edge

People living in on Farmington Hills neighborhood say a sign on a door says it all. It says “Dangerous dogs” live there.

“Two black dogs, maybe a lab mix.”

People living in the Kimberly subdivision off Eleven Mile and Middlebelt say the dogs have gotten loose and attacked three times in the past week.

One of the victims is a woman who was gardening.

“She was just walking around her backyard, and all of a sudden she heard dogs growling. She turned and they were in a full-fledged charge toward her,” said Nicole Saltmarsh, neighborhood association president.

“They just began attacking and biting her.”

Saltmarsh says the woman had to climb a tree to get away from the dogs.

Those dogs are now in quarantine at Animal Control.

Another scary incident happened just days earlier, involving children.

“The boys were playing in the backyard with a baseball and had a net they hit the baseball into. The dogs charged at the two children and hit that net first which a few seconds for the father to jump in and push the boys out of the way.”

Finally – neighbors say - the two dos attacked another dog.

Saltmarsh and others fear what will happen if the dogs are released and returned to the owner.

“Since this occurrence, when I bring my daughter out to the car in the morning, I put her in the car inside the garage. I don’t know what’s going to happen or if they’re going to be running loose again.”
