Local entrepreneurs and artists are putting their best work on display at the Downtown Detroit markets.

More than 30 vendors are filling out over three markets and FOX 2 got a sneak peek.

There are indoor and outdoor booths at Cadillac Square, Capitol Park, and 1001 Woodward. You'll find a number of unique products, perfect for holiday gifts.

"We really feel like this is an amazing opportunity for Detroiters to come together," said Helen Davis Johnson, Quicken Loans Family of Companies. "From inside the city and across the region."

The markets officially opens to the public Friday, Nov. 7 and will run until Jan. 7.

One woman is making greeting cards out of recycled paper.

"I was inspired by the lack of recycling in downtown Detroit," said Sadie Smith. "And I made some stuff last Christmas for some of my family - some cards, some bows, out of paper bags, envelopes. The idea sprang from that and I ran with it."

After Jan. 7 the markets won't disappear, however.

"The markets end Jan. 7 but a lot of this stuff will stay up until Valentine's Day," Johnson said. "So it really is a nice, long run that we hope brings Detroiters together."
