Retired police sergeant arrested for deadly shooting over landlord dispute in Detroit

The victim, who is in his 40s, was shot at about 2:20 p.m. in the 15900 block of Kentfield. He was transported to the hospital where he died from his injuries.

A man was fatally wounded after being shot multiple times in a landlord and tenant dispute Tuesday afternoon on Detroit's west side.

The victim, who is in his 40s, was shot at about 2:20 p.m. in the 15900 block of Kentfield. He was transported to the hospital where he died from his injuries.

The shooter, who is in his 50s, has been taken into custody, a firearm was recovered and a warrant was submitted to the Wayne County Prosecutor's Office.

DPD at the scene says the suspect is a retired Detroit police sergeant who has been off the job for about eight years.

Detroit police say the shooting arose from the dispute inside the residence, and that the victim was not armed.
