DTE Energy contractor killed in Romulus

A line worker was killed in what's being called a "tragic accident" Wednesday in Romulus. We're told he was working with one of DTE Energy's contractors at the time of his death.

Details have not yet been released about what caused the worker's death. A statement from DTE Energy calls the death a "tragic accident."

It happened at Grover and Mary streets, which is near Wayne and Wick roads.

Below is the full statement from DTE:

"We were saddened to learn of a tragic accident Wednesday morning involving a lineworker for one of our contractors working in Romulus. The safety of our employees - including our supplier family - is our No. 1 priority at all times. We are working with local authorities to investigate the cause of the accident. Our thoughts and prayers go out to the worker's family and co-workers during this extremely difficult time."

The worker's name has not yet been given.
