Eastpointe shooting: Man charged after disguised attack on 9 Mile
EASTPOINTE, Mich. (FOX 2) - A man appeared in court while facing multiple charges on Monday in connection to a shooting on 9 Mile in Eastpointe.
On Friday, Eastpointe Police responded to 9 Mile to investigate a shooting. The incident happened on Jan. 3, 2025, at approximately 3:30 p.m. Officers discovered a victim suffering from a gunshot wound to the chest.
The victim was taken to a hospital and is expected to make a full recovery. Initial investigations revealed that the victim was in a relationship with the suspect’s ex-girlfriend, a situation that reportedly upset the suspect.
Authorities say the suspect, who is allegedly Shawn Davidson, approached the victim disguised as a woman, wearing a wig, tight pink pants, a pink shirt, and a black jacket. After a brief conversation, he allegedly drew a handgun and shot the victim once in the chest before fleeing on foot, avoiding security cameras in the area.
In the courtroom, it was said that Davidson's alleged disguise had failed as the victim had recognized him.
When police went to Davidson's house to arrest him, he allegedly fired more gunshots.
After taking defensive positions, officers negotiated his surrender. Both the suspect and his girlfriend were taken into custody without further incident.
The bond was set at $2 million cash surety.
Davidson's next court date is Jan. 15.
