Ex boyfriend ID'd as person of interest in death of Van Buren Township woman
VAN BUREN TWP, Mich. (WJBK) - The Van Buren Police Department says it has identified a potential person of interest in the death of a Van Buren woman who was found dead in her own home with a gunshot to the head.
Police confirm to FOX 2 that her ex boyfriend, Kenneth Michalak, is a person of interest in the death of Egypt Covington. Police said that Michalak is not a suspect but that they want to speak with him about the circumstances surrounding her death last summer.
Covington was found dead from a gunshot wound to the head in her home on Hull Road in Belleville in June 2017.
Police have said her death didn't appear to be random, and believe she likely knew her killer. She died just says before her 28th birthday.
Egypt was well known in the community for her voice. She won Country Idol at Fraser's Pub in Ann Arbor.
