An explosion took place inside a garage in Sterling Heights on Wednesday, May 1, 2024.
STERLING HEIGHTS, Mich. (FOX 2) - A homeowner was working in his garage when something exploded, according to police. He was severely injured but is expected to live.
The incident took place at the 8500 block of Canal Road in Sterling Heights, around 9 p.m. on Wednesday.
Officers were told the man was working on a vehicle in the garage, said Mario Bastianelli with the Sterling Heights Police Department. The cause of the explosion remains unknown at this time.
The man was taken to a local hospital to be treated for his injuries.
There was no fire after the explosion. No other injuries were reported.
The Michigan State Police Bomb Squad is investigating.
"It's definitely suspicious in nature as of right now," Bastianelli said.
