Thunderstorms cause widespread damage across Metro Detroit

Thunderstorms on Wednesday night caused widespread damage in Metro Detroit, especially in lower Oakland County, where trees and power lines were brought down.

The tree destroyed the cabin and pinned one of the counselors to her bed. When troopers arrived, they removed broken glass and debris as they worked to free the trapped victim.

After about 1 ½ hours, the woman was freed from the cabin. She was not hurt.

No campers were hurt, either. A trooper did suffer a minor hand injury.
