A father of four was simply walking home from his mother’s house, but never made it home. The 34-year old was shot and killed on his front porch.

"Every time he’d leave he would let me know he love me and those were the last words my baby said to me before you took his life.  I just want someone to tell me why? My heart is empty right now," mom Betty Tolbert-Carey said.

Two years and one month, that’s how long Betty has felt this way. On August 8th 2016 34 year-old Adrian Tolbert left his mother’s home on the 5700 block of Harding street.

"Adrian had a soft heart and would do anything for anybody," she said.

Adrian was on his way home to check on his wife, they live right next door when he was shot and killed. His family heard the shots and found this father of four dead on the front porch.

"This was a guy sneaking up on grown man at his house and shooting him dead for no apparent reason," Michael Harris said.

His unexplained death has left a huge hole in this family.

"There’s is disharmony in the world because of that one act. It didn't just change one life, it changed over thirty people’s lives,” Harris said.

A person of interest was seen on nearby security cameras after the shooting walking through the victim’s backyard. His family says the killer can make this easy on everyone including their own conscience.

"Walk into a police station tell them what you did.  we don't care why you did it so these dreams and images can go away,” Harris said.
