Farmington High School was placed on lockdown after a .40 caliber magazine of bullets was found in the school.

Officials said the lockdown was a precautionary measure and no students or staff were in any danger.

"I came in hearing there was a lockdown when I was walking into school from the parking lot," said Bertrand Wyrick, a junior student.

But it was not a drill Friday morning.

"A custodian notified our school administrators that they had found a magazine clip in the auditorium," said Superintendent George Heitch, Farmington Schools. "We are not going to speculate, we have no idea how that ended up in the auditorium. We are just sorry that it did."

Students stayed in place in their rooms while police conducted a sweep of the school, finding no threats or weapons on the campus.

Investigators are reviewing security footage inside the school as the investigation continues.
