Antonio was arguing with the security guard at the Cabana Motel. His family says he was just outside smoking, they say he didn’t have a gun, so they can’t understand why an argument turned into this, and now their loved one is dead.

"This is senseless, Tony had an 8-year old, and a 14-year old, he was on his way when he spoke to me today to pick them up,” the victim’s sister Delores Cowans said.

Antonio Smith’s boys won’t be able to see him anymore.

Police say the 42-year old was arguing with a security guard at the motel on the eastside early Sunday morning around 5:40.

"Once again an unarmed black guy is killed by someone who’s supposed to have authority or that’s supposed to protect or something is killed, yall took my brother, the Cabana needs to be shut down."

Police say Smith was shot in the back, his brother took him to the hospital, but it was too late.

Police are looking for two suspects, they say suspect one is a black man 5’11, 19-21 years old, thin build with medium brown complexion skin, he has short black hair and is wearing a blue Detroit Tigers sweatshirt, black jeans, and black shoes.

The second suspect is black man 5’9 thin build, dark complexion also 19-21 years old.

“The target was my son and he was well loved by us, this is senseless, we got to wake up, wet got to wake up, we got to wake up,” Cowans said.

The owner says the security guard was not working with them but was staying at the motel. There is video of the incident but police say they are not releasing it or pictures on Sunday.
