A fast and bright pretty site falling from the stars. Meteor showers will now be coming to a night sky near you.

Thought of as a crowd favorite for astronomy fans, the Perseid meteor shower is looking at favorable conditions this week.

There will be no moonlight. As many as 80 meteors will be falling per hour. With a warm climate, the plains, Ohio and Tennessee Valleys will have prime viewing time for stargazers.

For any non-astronomers wondering, meteors are simply dust-sized pieces of icy debris shelled off of passing comets.

With best times to catch the showers during the pre-dawn hours, mornings of August 11-14 will give even city dwellers a chance at spotting the streaks across the sky.
