Flint man charged in Oxford shooting that left 1 person dead, 2 others injured
OXFORD, Mich (FOX 2) - - A Flint man has been charged in a 19-count felony warrant, including felony murder, for the Christmas Eve shooting in Oxford that left one person dead and two others injured.
Authorities say Malik Letroy Webb, 29, allegedly shot and killed Dr. Barbara Wolf after she stopped to assist him when his car went into a ditch near Ray Road and North Oxford Road around 6:15 PM on Dec. 24. Wolf’s 38-year-old daughter, a passenger in her car, was also shot during the incident.
A 56-year-old Oxford man, who also stopped to help, was shot in the arm. Another victim, a 39-year-old Oxford Township woman, was reportedly held at gunpoint by Webb in a failed carjacking attempt. Dr. Wolf was transported to the hospital but later died from her injuries.
Her daughter remains hospitalized in serious condition. The other injured victims have since been treated, with one being released.
"This violent and heinous act is tragic on every level," said Oakland County Sheriff Michael Bouchard. "This is yet another case where a convicted felon with prior weapons charges was allowed back into the community to harm others. This senseless murder could have been prevented."
Webb, a convicted felon, was arraigned today in Novi’s 52-1 District Court and is being held without bond. He faces the following charges:
• Felony murder with carjacking as the underlying felony
• Three counts of assault with intent to murder
• Three counts of felonious assault
• Carjacking
• Carrying a concealed weapon
• Possession of a firearm by a prohibited person
• Nine counts of felony firearm possession – third offense. If convicted of felony murder, Webb faces mandatory life in prison without parole.
