A Detroit area doctor is reportedly on the run after being accused of sexual assault.

A new lawsuit alleges Doctor Vivek Loomba fondled a female patient during a 2017 appointment at Henry Ford Health System's West Bloomfield hospital, according to the Oakland Press.

The suit says the woman reported the doctor's actions to the hospital and police - that day. The doctor allegedly quit the hospital and left the country before he could be questioned by police.

A Clarkston couple is suing Loomba and Henry Ford Health System for $25,000 in damages.

A Henry Ford official confirmed the doctor is also no longer employed.

"When we learned of the allegations, we took immediate action to protect our patients. We launched an internal investigation and the doctor was subsequently placed on administrative leave. During the course of our investigation, the doctor left the country. He is no longer employed with us."
