Former longtime Dearborn Mayor John 'Jack' O'Reilly Jr. has died, says family
DEARBORN, Mich. (FOX 2) - The former mayor of Dearborn, John "Jack" O'Reilly Jr., has died, said his son on Facebook on Wednesday.
O'Reilly served as mayor of Dearborn from 2007 to 2022 and previously served on the Dearborn City Council from 1990 to 2007.
His father, John B. O'Reilly Sr., also served as mayor from 1978 to 1985 and was also Dearborn's police chief.
"It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of John B. O'Reilly Jr., who died peacefully on January 1st, 2025, listening to his favorite music and poems while surrounded by family. Known to most simply as "Jack", he was a true son of Dearborn," said his son, Devon O'Reilly on Facebook.
The family said donations could be sent in his name to Dearborn Education Foundation or Friends for Animals of Metro Detroit.
Memorial services are expected to be announced in the coming days.
