DETROIT (WJBK) - Former Michigan State Spartan Keith Appling has been arraigned on multiple charges after a loaded weapon was found in his car in the parking lot of a Dearborn strip club.
Prosecutor Kym Worthy announced the charges against the 24-year-old Appling on Wednesday. He's being charged with carrying a concealed weapon, possession of a loaded firearm in a vehicle, and possession of marijuana.
According to the charges, Dearborn police were called to Pantheon Club in Dearborn on Sunday evening around 6:45 by a security guard who saw a man pull a gun from the trunk of a car in the parking lot. Police arrived, found the car, and found Appling sitting in the driver's seat.
Police searched the vehicle and said they found a handgun under the driver's seat, a small amount of marijuana, and a loaded weapon in the trunk.
Appling was arrested on the scene.
According to Dearborn police, one of the weapons was an AK47.
Appling, a Detroit native, played basketball for Pershing high school before moving on to Michigan State, earning all-big ten honors his junior year. The point guard currently plays for the Orlando Magic.
