LAS VEGAS, Mich. (WJBK) - A subdued mood was felt up and down the Las Vegas strip less than 24 hours after a mass shooting massacre.
Just a short ways away from the Mandalay Bay where early this morning Stephen Craig Paddock, 64, fired from a sniper's perch on the 32nd floor killing 59 victims and wounding 527. He fatally shot himself before police could apprehend him.
Susan and Joseph Reyes were staying at the nearby Aria Hotel.
"We were in our hotel and everyone hustled out really fast," Joseph said. "There was a lot of misinformation of what was happening from a lot of victims running into other casinos. The perception was there were shootings going on all over the area.
"Our facility was under panic and everyone hustled out."
Joseph said the first responders have been phenomenal with handling the attack.
"When people started running out of Aria, I was in panic mode too," she said. "Police said to go back in and that we weren't safe out here. I was confused because it was my understanding there was someone in my hotel. We went back into the hotel, turned on the news and could see down the strip and we realized the magnitude."
