Free swim lessons offered for kids, adults in Southeast Michigan - How to register

Spots are still open for some free swimming classes this summer in Southeast Michigan.

Huron-Clinton Metroparks partnered with other organizations to offer free water safety lessons for both children and adults. While many of the classes are full, other courses have spots.

Free swim classes for children

The Ann Arbor YMCA is offering swim and water safety classes geared toward children aged 5-13 at Camp Birkett in Pinckney. The courses are primarily focused on lake and boating safety.

These classes are a week long and include tips for staying safe in and out of the water, such as pool, boating, beach and water park safety, and stroke development. No prior experience is necessary.

All participants will receive a bathing suit, swim cap, towel, goggles and swim bag.

Openings are available for multiple classes in August.
