Full moon expected to light up the sky Xmas Eve for Santa

Rudolph is getting a little help this year!  A Full Moon will light the winter sky Christmas Eve night, giving Santa a little extra help and giving us a beautiful scene.

The moon is technically full at 6:11AM on Christmas morning.  It is termed “The Cold Moon” because, well, obviously (generally temps start their big drop off this time of the year).  Doing some research I also found that some refer to it as “The Long Nights Moon”, which I found interesting because the Winter Solstice is Dec. 22 and after that the nights start to get shorter.  But I guess timing wise, it makes sense.

Nurses, doctors and teachers will tell you that things get crazy during a full moon.  Well, this year, kids better keep that crazy under control.  Santa is watching.

This is the first time since 1977 that the moon will be full on Christmas and it won't happen again until 2034.
