'Future is looking a lot brighter': Wayne County man wins $1 million on Michigan lotto scratch-off
WAYNE COUNTY, Mich. (FOX 2) - A 50-year-old Wayne County man says he will be able to live comfortably after winning $1 million on a scratch-off lottery ticket.
The player bought the winning ticket at the Way Station on Main Street and Plymouth.
"I like playing all of the different Lottery games, and I have a daily ritual of stopping at the Way Station to purchase a scratch-off ticket," he said. "I scratched the Wild Cherry ticket when I got home and when I saw it was a $1 million winning ticket, I had to scan it on the app to make sure I was reading it right. Once the app confirmed my prize, I woke up my wife to tell her the good news!"
The man decided to receive the prize as a one-time lump sum payment of about $693,000 rather than annuity payments for the full amount. He said he will use the money for home improvements and a vacation.
"The future is looking a lot brighter thanks to this prize," he said. "I feel extremely lucky to have won!"
