Girls specially built bike, stolen, found and returned.

(WJBK) - A custom therapy bike that was stolen Saturday in Midtown has been turned in to the Wayne State University Police.

The custom Adidas bike belongs to Kacie Williams, who just received the specialty piece of equipment in April. Williams was just 5 years old when she was involved in a horrible car crash 12 years ago.

It was January of 2006 when the then five-year-old superstar gymnast, was fighting for her life. She was comatose from a head injury followed by a stroke after a rollover car accident on her way to a gymnastics meet.

But she was a fighter and five months later, she walked across the stage at her kindergarten graduation. Her left side was weakened by the stroke but her determination was stronger than ever.

In April 2018, the therapists at Crawl, Walk, Jump, Run Therapy Clinic in Clinton Township surprised her with a bike made especially for her from Freedom Concepts and customized with Adidas logos and a plaque that reads "Kacie's Ride."

Kacie was attending Dally in The Alley Saturday and went for a bite to eat at Motor City Brewing Works on Canfield.

She parked her bike off the street near the restaurant, but it had been stolen before she finished.

Later Saturday night, a stranger saw a little boy riding the bike on Woodward Avenue and Alexandrine Street, where she was also riding her bike.

She says the little boy offered to sell her the bike for $100, but she was suspicious it wasn't his. That's when she did a search online to find information about the unique bike with the "Kacie's Ride" plaque on it. 

That's when the stranger made contact with Kacie's mom Claudette to share the pictures her friend snapped of the boy and the bike.

Sunday afternoon someone turned the bike in at the Wayne State police department and family of the bike's owner was contacted to pick it up.
