Help is on the way for homeowners facing foreclosure in Wayne, Oakland and Macomb counties.

A federally funded program called Step Forward Michigan is providing no-interest loans to homeowners facing hardship.

People who have fallen behind on their property taxes, mortgage or condo fees are eligible for loans of up to $30,000. The program tries to help people who may have just fallen on hard times, stay in their homes.

FOX 2 is told the loans are forgivable at 20 percent each year, as long as the home remains the owner's primary residence.
