Here's what it'd cost to power Clark Griswold's Christmas lights

A real estate website figured out how much Clark Griswold's insane Christmas lights in "National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation" would cost to run during the month of December.

Any guesses? The answer is in the thousands of dollars.

Estately based their calculations for Clark's 25,000 incandescent bulbs per state, since each state charges differently per kwh.

Here in Michigan -- it would cost the Griswold family $4,278 for the month of December, per Estately's calculations. You can see how Estately added up the numbers here.

That number, of course, is if you use incandescent lights like Clark used in the movie. If you use LED lights, it'd only cost $49 to power the 25,000 lights for a month.

According to their calculations, the big light display would cost the most in Hawaii -- $7,552 a month. It'd be the cheapest in Louisiana at $2,582 a month.
