Human remains found outside Detroit house on city's west side
DETROIT (FOX 2) - Police are investigating human remains discovered on Detroit's west side Monday afternoon.
FOX 2 has confirmed that human remains were found outside a home off Woodingham Street, near Livernois and Outer Drive.
A construction crew at the house was doing some work and found human remains that were partially buried and partially decomposed. The body was wrapped in some kind of tarp or carpeting.
Those workers called DPD who immediately arrived on scene and confirmed the human remains were partially sticking out of the ground. The FBI was contacted and is assisting with the investigation.
Due to the cold temperatures, an excavator will likely be needed to help dig out the remains.
According to Detroit police, a foot and shin were seen sticking out through the ground behind the home's garage.
Investigators say nobody is living inside the residence.
