A Beverly Hills woman was killed Sunday by her husband in an apparent murder and attempted suicide.

Police say the woman was found dead at the home where the shooting took place and the husband was brought to Royal Oak Beaumont after he killed his wife and shot himself in the head.

The condition of the man is unknown at this time.

Both people involved are in their early 50s.

Police responded a home in the 19000 block of Riverside shortly after 10:30 a.m. Sunday after the call came in of a possible double shooting.

Beverly Hills police have not commented any further on the husband and wife, but say the woman was a caregiver at the house, and that the incident did not have anything to do with the domestic situation.

Neighbors say only know of an elderly man who lives in the home.

"Was it a husband and wife they're saying? They didn't live there. It was an older man. His wife died about five years ago. He's had around the clock care since she's been gone," said Maureen Nagle.

The home on Riverside Drive remained an active crime scene for much of the day.

"Police activity all morning, just the whole investigation aspect of it, so it is eye opening when that something like that happens right in front of your home. You see it on television day in and day out, but to see it in front of your home is definitely revealing," neighbor Allen Brink said.

The names of the husband and wife have not been released by police.
