Inkster mother charged in shooting of her son after argument

Prosecutor Kym worthy has charged Ebonie Schofield, 37, of Inkster, in connection with the shooting of her son.  

On Thursday March 8 around 8:00 a.m., it is alleged that Schofield and her 16 year-old son had a verbal argument, both shoving each other in their apartment located in the 630 block of Tobin Drive. 

As a result, the defendant made her son leave the location.  While her son was outside banging on the apartment door, it is alleged that the defendant came out and shot him in the left shoulder with a handgun.

The son was transported to a local hospital for treatment of his wound.  Schofield was taken into custody.

The case was investigated by the Inkster Police Department, assisted by the Michigan State Police.

Schofield has been charged with Assault with Intent to do Great Bodily Harm, Careless Discharge of a Weapon Causing Injury or Death and Felony Firearm.
