DETROIT (WJBK) - Dozens of people say they were hired by a contractor to clean up the new Little Caesars Arena but they haven't been paid in full.
"Where is the rest of my money," asks Kiara Head, adding she's been asking that for two weeks.
The Professional Group based in Detroit was contracted out to clean the brand new LCA. Nearly 600 members of staff mopped up the mess after the Kid Rock concerts, but the single mother of 4 young kids says she worked 30 hours and only got paid for 8.
"It is a big place and to clean it from top to bottom, you have to do it right," Head said. "And to not be paid, that is very upsetting."
And when Kiara tried calling The Professional Group for answers, she claims she got the runaround, and eventually was she told she would get her money on Friday.
"Why do I have to wait until Friday for my money," she said. "You messed up. We need to be paid, I have children, I have families, I've got bills and I need my money
And she is not alone. Company reviews show other people have had problems getting paid.
CEO of The Professional Group, Doug Hamburger, whose staff is also contracted out to clean Comerica and Detroit Metro Airport, told FOX 2 whenever you take on a big job like Little Caesars Arena, it takes a little while to work out the kinks.
He admits with this job 30 out of 600 employees had problems getting paid, but advises workers to call payroll and the issue will be fixed in 24 hours.
Kiara Head says she is still waiting.
"Payroll told me Friday," she said. "I contacted last Friday, I contacted them Tuesday, I contacted them this morning which is Wednesday. Where is the 24 hours?
"I can't survive with nothing. These people need to be paid, we worked for this."
Kiara said she believes more than just 30 are having the same problem.
