Lighthouse of Oakland County adjusting donation times for federal workers
PONTIAC (FOX 2) - The government shutdown has ended, if only temporarily.
However, nobody knows what will happen after Feb 15, when funding will run out.
Until then, the Lighthouse food pantry is attempting to stock up on food donations, ready to give them out to federal employees when the time comes.
"It's hurting everybody, Everybody who hasn't had paychecks. We need this to end," said Carrie Strickland, who relies on food donations.
If the government does get shutdown again, the pantry will be in high demand. Officials with the Lighthouse said they would serve their clients every 15 days, instead of every 30. The bridge cards that individuals use would have become useless, as the money that funds them would have run out by March.
