Livingston County family sues after deadly crash involving driver allegedly on nitrous

A family still grieving the loss of a loved one are suing several smoke shops after a driver, allegedly inhaling a nitrous oxide whippet, crashed into their father's car, killing him.

The backstory:

Eugene Glavin, who was better known to his family as "Papa G", is still missed by his daughter Jessica Hallford and her children more than two years after he was killed in a highway crash.

"He was such a bright light in our lives, and I want that to be how my children remember him," she said. "As tragic and awful as this is I don’t want his death to be in vain."

What they're saying:

Now, she along with the Ven Johnson Law Firm are filing a lawsuit against multiple smoke shops and the estate of 21-year-old Colin Cramar, who allegedly passed out after huffing nitrous while driving on I-96 in Howell.

The lawfirm says he went over the median and slammed into Jessica’s father head on.

Despite being alive on the scene right after the November 2022 crash, Glavin died from his injuries, despite all the help that arrived.

Investigators say the passed-out driver also died on the scene. When police arrived they found a gigantic canister called Hippie Whippy, and it was in Cramar's lap, according to officials.

What's next:

The lawsuit names several smoke shops, including Mr Vapor of Howell, several Wild Bill’s Tobacco locations and others to raise awareness over what they call the abuse of nitrous oxide canisters often used for cake decoration and making whipped cream.

In the meantime, Jessica’s family tries to hold on to the precious memories.
