The death of Dr. Michael Krause is tough to hear, especially when those who knew him learned it was his 30-year old son who is accused of killing his father with his bare hands.

Bill Morgan in charge of clearing snow from Krause’s dental office in Ann Arbor.

“Always found him to be a very nice man. Sorry to hear sad news,” Morgan said.

Police say it happened Saturday night. Krause’s wife called 911 reporting a fight, saying her son was assaulting her 66-year-old husband inside their Ann Arbor home on Watershed. A few minutes later police received another call, but from the son.

“The son said they got into an argument, his father yelling at him and his mother and he couldn't take it anymore,” Ann Arbor Police Lt. Aimee Metzer said. “When he called he indicated he would be waiting outside in driveway area, he was immediately taken in custody. Other responding officers went inside and attempted CPR to the victim."

However, it was too late. His father was already dead, suffering significant trauma to the head. Police spent hours at the home investigating.

It’s believed both men had been drinking but police have yet to reveal what sparked the deadly argument.

The wife has lost her husband, and now her son is facing life in prison.

“It’s obviously a rare traumatic event, traumatic for the officers that responded and definitely traumatic for the family.”

Our hearts go out to wife of victim at this time, she obviously suffered most trauma,” Lt. Metzer said.

The son is expected to be charged with murder Tuesday.
