Man dies in Coney Island drive-through on 7 Mile

The search is on for a gunman  after a victim was shot and killed outside a Coney Island on Detroit's east side.

James Reese and a woman had pulled up to Robert's Coney Island drive-through on east Seven Mile and Waltham at about 9:30 to 10 p.m. Sunday evening.

Their vehicle was suddenly rammed by a black truck, and then someone got out and demanded money.

The suspect told the woman who was with Reese to get out. She did, and fled.

Reese's family says he was found shot in the neck and chest. The gunman was in a black truck with no license plate.

The family is appealing to the public for help in assisting police to solve the crime and find the woman.

"I want people if they've seen anything, heard anything," said Kandid Cargill, Reese's niece. "If they know the whereabouts of the female in question, of Brittany, call Detroit police.

"It was unnecessary, he was a very loving uncle, a loving brother. He was the type of person who looked out for people and would help anybody he could."

Call Detroit police at (313) 596-5300 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-SPEAK-UP if you have any information.
