DETROIT (WJBK) - One man was killed and another is in critical condition after they were shot while stopped at Seven Mile and Greenfield on Detroit's west side.
Jaron Williams says when he went outside to see what was going on he knew something was wrong.
"I just saw a bunch of people running," he said.
Police say on Monday afternoon a 59-year-old man and a 35-year-old man were hit by bullets while inside a box truck. Both were taken to a nearby hospital, but the 35-year-old died from his injuries.
A man who wants to remain anonymous but identified himself as a family friend arrived at the scene an identified the older man as Steve Miller, the owner of Mr. Steve's, and the younger as his stepson.
The friend said the bullets were not meant for Miller and that the stepson had been in trouble with the law.
But at this time police will only say they continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the double shooting and the search for the suspect continues.
As for Williams and his mother, who say they were packing up to move out of their home when the shooting took place, they say the area is unsafe.
"I'm afraid of this corner. It's too much. I've been here four months and four people who have been at least killed or hurt," Bianca Hunnicutt said.
