Man found dead in Cass River near Heritage Park in Frankenmuth

A missing 52-year-old Michigan man was found dead in the Cass River at Frankenmuth last week.

On Jan. 4, Robert Loren Bacon's body was located and recovered by police dive teams in the river, near Heritage Park. Bacon had been missing since Dec. 30.

The preliminary cause of death appears to be drowning, but the case is still being investigated by the Saginaw County Medical Examiner's Office. The investigation into the circumstances surrounding Mr. Bacon's death is ongoing.

Bacon, from Byron (just west of Fenton), was last seen attending a family gathering on Dec. 27 at the Bavarian Inn Lodge in Frankenmuth.

"The Frankenmuth Police Department, the Frankenmuth Community, First Responders, and the Bavarian Inn Lodge extend our deepest sympathies to the family and friends of Robert Bacon during this difficult time," said FPD on its Facebook page.
