WASHINGTON TWP., Mich. (FOX 2) - A man has died and his wife in critical condition in what police are calling am attempted murder-suicide in Washington Township.
The incident happened at 11 p.m. Christmas Eve on Cetnor Court. A man tried to kill his wife and then turned the gun on himself.
The couple was arguing inside the home according to investigators before 52-year- old Loris Costa, shot his 53-year-old wife in the chest multiple times. He then shot himself once in the head.
Loris costa died but his wife survived, last listed in critical condition.
The couple has three children and the Macomb County Sheriff's Office confirmed that there were three males age 17 and older in the house at the time of the shooting. Investigators aren't saying what their relationship is to the couple.
People who live in the area say it's a close-knit community.
"Everybody is close up here like family, or friend-friend," said resident Doug Pearson II.
The weapon used in the shooting was recovered and investigators don't believe anyone else was involved in the crime.
