Man suspected in Ortonville double shooting given $8 million bond

The man suspected of shooting his wife and another male earlier this week in Ortonville was arraigned on a number of charges Friday morning. 

Michael Quigley was charged with two counts of assault with intent to murder, first-degree home invasion. assault with a dangerous weapon and felony firearms violations. 

Quigley is accused of shooting his estranged wife and her male friend Tuesday night after forcing his way into the apartment in Ortonville. Police say he began arguing with the victims before shooting them both. 

Police say he ran and hid after the shooting, prompting a manhunt in Oakland County for Quigley. Several schools districts canceled classes on Wednesday while the search was ongoing. 

A Brandon Township resident spotted Quigley Wednesday night and held him at gunpoint until the authorities arrived. Quigley was found inside a vehicle that was not his, according to investigators.

Quigley's wife and the male victim survived and are said to both be in stable condition. We're also told they've been able to speak with investigators about the situation. Quigley's wife filed for divorce last week, and a court hearing was scheduled for Wednesday regarding a protective order, according to the Oakland County Sheriff's Office. Authorities said in court Friday morning that Quigley's wife had also told authorities he was stalking her. 

Quigley is due back in court in early December.
