State police investigating fatal shooting at check cashing business inside beauty store

A fatal shooting in Highland Park Friday left the owner of the business, a 54-year-old West Bloomfield man, dead.

Michigan State Police canine officers and air support were looking for a murder suspect in Highland Park following a fatal shooting Friday.

The victim was a 54-year-old West Bloomfield man who owned Beauty Plus store, 13933 Woodward Ave, today between Manchester Parkway and the Davison Freeway.

According to MSP, the suspect came in to cash a check, a confrontation occurred, leading to the fatal shooting of the victim.

"MSP K9’s along with MSP ES members and Trooper 3 began to look for the suspect in the area near the store. Currently the search in the immediate area has been completed. Detectives are currently reviewing videos and gathering evidence. They are also working tips obtained from the public," said 1st Lt. Michael Shaw Michigan State Police.
